For some high frequency use cases on Facebook, Genius recommends using the Facebook Product Catalogue to avoid your ads getting stuck in lengthy review processes. Each product within the catalogue has a number of labels associated with it. This article will explain what each label is used for so you can determine how you would like to populate them.

Product Name & Description:

Each product within the catalogue must include a Name and Description. This is to help people understand the products they are seeing in your ads. These fields can be added to the Primary text, Headline, and News Feed Link description at the ad level if desired but they are optional.

Product Name

Requirements:

  • Max length of 150 characters (recommended under 65)

  • Can be unique to each product or generic across all

Examples:

  • Generic: “Sign up to get a £10 free bet”

  • Unique to Product = “team 1 v team 2” such as “Leicester v Chelsea”

Product Description:

  • In this section you can add any additional information about the product you might want to include within your ad copy

  • As with Product Name, this can be generic across all products or unique to each

Note: Both Product Name and Description are optional to include within the ad unit so you can simply provide placeholder copy for these fields if you are not intending to use them within your ad.

Content ID:

This is a unique ID assigned to each product. Your Genius Creative Account Manager will advise on what the best ID to use for your specific use case but generally it is best practice to use either Event IDs or Market IDs

Requirements:

  • Must be unique to each product and cannot be edited once the product has been created

  • Must be able to be mapped to the Facebook Pixel.

  • ID must be available within your API minimum of three days before you would like the product to go live.

  • For Sports H2H concepts this is usually the team name.

URL:

  • This is the clickthrough link associated with the product - we recommend this be be a unique match, bet market, or game page.

  • Can be the same for all products or unique.

Product Sets:

Product Sets let you organise products in different groups or segments by filtering by one or more labels attached to your products such as the Name and Description described above. By creating a product set, you can better control which products will appear in your ads.

If the standard labels aren’t enough and you require a custom solution that's when Custom Labels are needed.

Custom Labels:

What are they?

  • Optional, additional columns that can be added to each product

  • Value can range from a number, ID or text

  • They are used when you want to add product information that doesn’t come under any of the fields within the original filters.

Why do you need them?

  • Because not all the products attributes can be added into the respective fields (such as identifying different leagues or markets)

  • Only way this additional information can be added in the feed for segmentation purposes is by adding a custom label column. There are 5 Custom Labels available.

Custom Labels 0 - 4:

Custom Labels 0 - 4 are available to use for any other details you might want to use as filters or add to your ad copy e.g.

  • Dynamic elements to be added to the post copy - Team 1 v Team 2

  • Identify leagues or markets e.g. 'Championship' - to allow you to easily filter and create segmentation
